Dr Richard Warner, lifetime advisor/recruitment |
|
email: rwarner@umw.edu Doc has been involved with Mother's Rugby since the beginning. His devotion to the team has enabled much of the success over the last 30 years - Doc was invloved year round in making sure things ran smoothly and advocating for players. Doc is now retired - but not from rugby. Doc played his college rugby in Ohio and has seen the game change over the years - yet his interest remains high. Doc's professional expertise is in Russian history. He is currently working on a novel that is a high-seas adventure similar to "Master and Commander", but with better writing and character development. Key characters are named after his favorite ruggers over the years. I enjoyed proof-reading a chapter recently. |
Directions to the Battlefield from I-95 (aka Doc Warner Field):
Take exit 130A towards downtown Fred on rt 3 (William St). After 1.7 miles (after you go under rt 1) you will come to a light. Turn left at the light onto Williams St (rt 3). At the top of a short hill after you veer right onto Hanover St. The rugby field will be on the right after the baseball field and field hockey field. Please park close together as parking is tight. We do not have bathrooms at the field but the baseball and tennis facilities are often empty and are otherwise known by the teams we play as the "$15 million rugby toilets". Please do not track mud or make a mess in these buildings as you enjoy the finest toilets in the state of VA.
